The ASSIST project officially launched with a kick-off meeting hosted by Evnikos Sports Club in Athens on November 21-22, 2023. This landmark event brought together representatives from the three partner organizations – Evnikos Sports Club from Greece, OTI Slovakia, and Edirne M&M Basketball Club from Turkey – to set the foundation for this innovative initiative. The meeting served as a platform to introduce the project’s vision, align on its objectives, and map out the detailed activities planned for the months ahead.

A central focus of the kick-off meeting was the development of ASSIST’s groundbreaking approach to basketball training, which integrates traditional games into modern sports practices. This method not only aims to enhance athletic performance for children and youth but also fosters inclusivity and connection by leveraging familiar, accessible activities. Through basketball enriched by traditional games, ASSIST seeks to create an educational yet fun environment, empowering young participants and promoting the values of equality, teamwork, and cultural diversity.

The meeting also underscored the impressive collaboration between the partners, each bringing their unique expertise to the table. Together, the team discussed the detailed timeline for upcoming training camps, workshops, and events that will take place across Greece, Turkey, and Slovakia. With a shared commitment to fostering inclusion and promoting European values through sports, the partners are determined to deliver impactful activities that engage local communities, overcome barriers, and inspire young people. The ASSIST project is now officially under way, promising to leave a meaningful mark on youth development across Europe!
