The ASSIST project, dedicated to promoting equality and European values through basketball and traditional games, held a transnational meeting in Bratislava, Slovakia. Representatives from the three partner organizations – Basketball Club Evnikos from Greece, OTI Slovakia, and Edirne M&M Basketball Club from Turkey – gathered to advance the project’s objectives and ensure its success.

The meeting served as an opportunity to review progress made so far, including planning the steps to implement the innovative training programme that integrates traditional games into basketball practice. This unique approach aims to make basketball training more enjoyable and accessible for children, improving not only athletic skills but also social connections and youth empowerment.
Planning the Training Camps
The partners began preparations for upcoming training camps in each country, where children will experience basketball enriched by traditional games. These camps are designed to be inclusive and engaging, promoting values of teamwork, equality, and cultural exchange. First camps are scheduled to take place from February 2025!

Enhancing Dissemination Strategies
To boost the project’s reach and visibility, the team brainstormed new strategies for dissemination. These efforts aim to promote the innovative methodology developed by ASSIST to a broader audience, ensuring its long-term impact. Additionally, open street events will be organized in each country to present the project to the public and engage communities directly.
The meeting in Bratislava highlighted the strong collaboration between the partners and reaffirmed their commitment to using sports as a tool for education, inclusion, and cultural connection. With plans now underway for the training camps, the ASSIST project is set to inspire and engage young athletes across Europe!
